Monsoon Skincare: Natural Home remedy for Oily and Acne Prone Skin

Featured Oily

While you are wondering what to wear this monsoon, there’s another more important aspect you are forgetting. Skin is perhaps the last thing we care for unless it begs for attention. If you thought that with monsoons all your summer woes like the sticky face or acne is gone, then you are in for some surprises here dear. When you see those nasty fungal infections or itchy rashes on your skin, that’s when you realize that there’s some action required.

It may be too late in some cases and may take months to get back your normal skin. So, taking precautions ahead of time or with the monsoon onset proves your smartness. So, we have a natural quick-fix for your oily skin this monsoon which when combined with a regular skincare routine will work wonders.

Clean face healthy skin

Considering that the sebaceous glands are hyper -active in this season making your skin super sticky, catching dirt and grime, and causing acne or blackheads, washing your face not more than twice a day is a good idea.

Wash face

Make sure that you use a face wash suitable for oily skin, is alcohol free and with PH-balance ingredients. Washing more than twice a day opens up the pores and makes them prone to infections.

Home remedy is the way

Looking for a natural home remedy? I am in the mid-thirties with a super oily skin that sometimes breaks out. Monsoon makes my skin even worse looking dull and drab. So, my quick-fix is a haldi and besan mix with some more ingredients that does wonders to my skin. And yes! I also swim even during the monsoons whenever I get an opportunity which makes the chlorine work on my skin taking off the glow.

So, take ½ teaspoon of turmeric (the kachhi haldi paste works better), 1 tbspns of yogurt (the one with the lower fat content is good for acne prone skin), 2 tbspns of chickpea flour (besan), 1 tspn of lemon juice, and rose water to make the paste. You can also add your favorite face pack (powdered variety) that contains fuller’s earth (multani mitti) and sandalwood (chandan) powder to it or fresh neem and pudina paste if you have acne. This will add to the benefits of the pack.

Apply all over face and neck. You can also use it on the exposed part of your hands and feet (adjust the measurements accordingly). Wash it after it dries of. Repeat this at least for three times a week and see the difference in no time. It also exfoliates your skin increasing the blood circulation in that area thereby, reducing any infections or acne. This home remedy reduces the oily effect, works on your acne and makes your skin look bright while giving your complexion that much needed glow during the monsoons.

So, if this natural skin care routine works wonders for you too, do drop me a message and let me know if you have any other wonder remedies for monsoon skin woes.

Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 Opening Day: Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez Walk for Manish Malhotra’s Summer Bride

The much awaited Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort opened on Wednesday with the Summer Bride collection of none other than the fashion maestro, Manish Malhotra. The opening show was a Bollywood studded event with stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaqueline Fernandez and Arjun Kapoor turning show stoppers for the celebrated fashion designer.

BollywoodHis summer specific collection “Elements” is all about soft fabrics that are candidly bridal. Models walked for 70 different drapes on the ramp that sought inspiration from earth, water, wind and flame. Whether you are the bride or the one in the bridal party, the collection offered something for everyone with a flurry of ethnic options (Malhotra is known for) that ranged from saris, lehengas, cocktail dresses to gowns.

We simply loved the crepes, tussars and the organzas used in the creations woven with intricate embroidery that glittered with salli sequins, and jeweled flowers that reflected his craftsmanship and prowess far superior than his recently launched fabric focused “Regal Threads” line. The summery hues of powder blue, blush pink, nude or grey accentuated the elegance of the entire collection. It was a dreamy and fascinating collection in pastel shades that makes for a perfect bridal party wear this season.

While we couldn’t take our eyes off the traditional Indian silhouettes blended on contemporary material, a  sharply tailored menswear collection by Malhotra in shades of mint, blue, salmon, grey and ivory also won our applauds.

And, as a Manish Malhotra show could not be complete without his Bollywood clients, we witnessed a starry night once more with his celebrity muses from the upcoming movie “Ki and Ka” Arjun Kapoor (in a dark blue traditional sherwani paired with a silver jacket) and Kareena Kapoor. But, we must admit that the star that took our breath away was Jacqueline Fernandez who looked resplaendant in a glittery silver cocktail gown. Other celebs like, Nita Ambani, Farah Khan, Dia Mirza, Shriya Saran, Sophie Choudry were among others who were also seen walking for the fashion maestro.
